Charging Your EV

There are a slew of videos making the rounds on social media like the one below (click the image to play the video).
But these videos are fake. They are created by AI.
All EVs are designed to prevent charging while in motion as a safety feature.
Two things worth noting:
AI is getting really good at fooling people. Sadly, we can no longer trust videos, images and audio recordings. Everything can be easily and convincingly faked. Take a second to think about what that means.
Even though we know videos like the one above are fake, they do make a good point: They clearly point out one of the main absurdities of electric vehicles (EVs) as a "green" technology: Namely, the electricity required to charge EV batteries has to come from somewhere!
In the real world, the electricity we might use to charge an EV comes from an electric power plant somewhere in the distance that burns coal or natural gas, or makes use of nuclear fission. So, while it's true that EVs do not consume fossil fuels directly, they certainly consume them indirectly. That's why EVs are not really "green."
Seeing a fake, AI-generated video of a Tesla towing a generator does kind of make this point in a way that people can understand. So maybe it's not all bad.
For those who are interested, it is actually possible to charge an EV with a gasoline or diesel generator. But, as mentioned above, you cannot do this while the EV is in motion. You need to use the right type of generator, and you need to be patient - because it takes a long time to charge. Here's a video that explains some of the details (click the image to play the video):
