Today’s post was meant to be about Patriot Day, September 11th. There’s lots to say about it.
But that can wait.
As you must know, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed yesterday.
It’s an ironic and sad example of extreme intolerance by someone (whether acting alone, or as an agent) who would likely claim to be a superior supporter of “tolerance.”
Kirk spent a lot of his time in the public square – specifically, on the campuses of American colleges and universities – trying his best to engage Marxist-influenced students and young minds in open Q&A sessions to help open up real dialog, in hopes of establishing first-person, human connection between ideological opponents.
In Kirk’s own words: “Let's have reasonable disagreements where violence is not an option."
Unfortunately, violence is always an option. And someone, sadly, chose to engage in it.

We’ve been asked: Does Top of Ohio Patriots have any thoughts to share about Kirk’s senseless murder?
It’s awfully soon to be asked this sort of question, but here are some initial thoughts:
Our prayers are going to Charlie and his family.
It's disheartening to see the usual media storm that follows an event like this, as well as the real-time edits to the 'story of Charlie Kirk' that are frantically occurring in supposedly trusted "reference and citation" spaces such as Wikipedia, as well as in so-called "news" space. It's disrespectful and sad. If you're interested in a counterbalance to all this noise, here's a real-world perspective from someone who knew Charlie very well, Candace Owens:
It’s clear that Kirk touched a nerve while serving on the front lines of what is clearly an ideological maelstrom. He was very brave to put himself in those situations. He was very smart to recognize that inspiring open, intelligent discussion amongst young people is an excellent approach to safeguarding our future.
We look forward to all the actionable opportunities to honor Charlie Kirk going forward.
