LADY LIBERTY . . .140 years ago . . . On June 17th, 1885, the statue arrived in boxes on Bedloe's Island in the New York Harbor. Built in Paris, dismantled and shipped to America, a gift from France.

After being reassembled, she was officially dedicated on October 28th, 1886.
The book she holds has the date that our Declaration of Independence was signed. (July 4th, 1776) A broken shackle and chain is at her feet, symbolizing Freedom. The torch is a symbol of enlightenment, to light the way, showing us the path to Liberty.
America has an amazing love story of Freedom. It's good to know our history! 💗 🇺🇸
