Some happy news for a change!

Agriculture Secretary, Brooke Rollins, stated in a post on X on Monday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will no longer support solar and wind projects on productive farmland.

Rollins put it this way: "Millions of acres of prime farmland is left unusable so Green New Deal subsidized solar panels can be built. This destruction of our farms and prime soil is taking away the futures of the next generation of farmers and the future of our country."

Unlike small-scale, residential-class solar and wind power solutions, utility-scale "green" energy projects are surprisingly inefficient – with measured power production less than 20% of nameplate rating, and notoriously unreliable (and disruptive) grid supply capacity.

Since project profits are typically derived from constructing projects - rather than operating them - it means that we've all been paying the price through taxation, loss of land and destabilized utilities.

To date, the USDA has provided over $2 billion for renewable energy projects, like solar and wind, through its Rural Energy for America Program. And it now appears that, in part at least, this wasteful scheme is loosing momentum. You can learn more about the USDA's new stance in this recent article on Reuters.

Closer to home, it's important to be aware of big solar companies such as Fountain Point LLC – a corporate entity that is trying to build a large-scale industrial solar complex in Logan County, Ohio. Citizens Against Fountain Point (CAFP) is currently raising funds to pay for the significant legal expenses for its upcoming Ohio Supreme Court case that aims to deny Fountain Point LLC's operating permit. You can personally get involved with CAFP and support their noble cause. Learn more here.
